The aim of the club is also to provide rugby for all abilities, all ages groups and for both sexes. We currently run the First team squad, with third and fourth teams. This is supported by the youth structure of Under 7’s to under 12’s in the mini section and under 13’s to under 17’s in the junior section. This is further complimented by a senior ladies team. The plans are to expand structure to include a ladies under 16’s team and a male veterans side. These teams will be introduced when the resources are available.
The Club is run under the direction of a Management Committee consisting of seven Directors elected annually at the A.G.M. Each of these directors has a specific area of responsibility and these are shown in the management section of this web site. The management committee is over seen by the Council, which comprises of four elected members plus the President. Their task is to oversee the management committee and recommend the composition of appointment to the Management committee each year.
These two committees are supported by a number of subcommittees appointed by the directors to assist in the running of the company. All these positions are carried by members on a volunteer basis.
The business is split into two sections, Darlington Rugby Football Club and Blackwell Meadows. This it to provide the support to the different requirements of the business where Blackwell Meadows supports the Clubhouse functions and DRFC the rugby.
The current location of the club is on a purpose built facility located on the outskirts of the town and has been our home since 1996. We sold our previous site for the development of a retail park and invested the proceeds in a facility that would allow the club to aspire to their goals that have already been outlined.
The Club is open 7 days a week and can cater for many varied functions. The room layout and options available are available for viewing on the adjoining Blackwell Meadows site.
In the process of development we always consider our past as well as our future and wish to maintain our traditions of being a friendly welcoming club, always pleased to receive our visitors in rugby and business be they mini, first XV or business acquaintances.
